Policy

Residents of North Lawndale, North Chicago, and across Illinois should be supported by the equitable policies, systems, and community conditions that they need to thrive.

That’s why Steans Family Foundation supports organizations that research, develop, and advance equitable, evidence-based policy in education, economic opportunity, community safety and wellbeing, and housing. When the policy ecosystem works for communities, it lets local impact take hold in North Lawndale, North Chicago, and beyond.

Our policy grantmaking funds research, advocacy, community organizing, and capacity building. We invest in partners who center the voices of those most directly affected.
