$1 Million Will Bolster Local 2010 Census Participation
Ten of Illinois' leading foundations announced that they are jointly investing $1 million to improve participation in hard-to-count, poor, minority, rural and high-rise communities in the 2010 Census.
Neighborhood Grants Program
In order to encourage and support the work of resident-based groups, the Neighborhood Grants Program continues to award grants to projects that address neighborhood concerns; demonstrate strong neighborhood support and collaboration among residents whose mission is to improve the quality of life in North Lawndale.

The Steans Family Foundation concentrates its grant making and programs in North Lawndale, a revitalizing neighborhood on Chicago's west side. By dedicating time, money, and skills, this small family foundation works in partnership with local residents and institutions to build and enhance the North Lawndale community. The Foundation's work supports the idea that effective revitalization can occur within the embedded social and economic networks that create and sustain communities. |
